I’ve been using this pump now for almost 6 months – It is the pump I use at work and take places. I have a Medela Symphony hospital pump that I use at home. This pump is great – it is true it doesn’t have the let-down setting that some have but it has not been an issue for me to figure out the settings. It has great suction – gentle like my Symphony pump but I do have to run it close to the max which is fine. I use it exclusively plugged into the wall – if you plan to run it on batteries I would recommend against that because it does run thru batteries super fast – like every two pumps I need to replace the 6 AA batteries in it or it looses suction. I purchase a car adapter that I use to plug it into in the car and that solved my battery usage issue. I had hoped that the massaging gel inserts would work but they were to small for my nipple size. I would recommend this pump for sure – I had am Ameda Purely Yours that my insurance gave me – that thing is HORRIBLE and really harsh compared to my Ardo. I’m a fan!
Edited to add that I really like the bag it comes in – really nice, lots of spots to organize things, doesn’t look “baby-ish” and it holds everything I need! I also like that the pump can be used with Medela bottles – it’s the same thread pitch.

I will say it over and over again, you need this pump – It’s life changing! I am writing my whole story on this pump, because, that’s how much this pump changed my life. I went to the Chicago Baby Show last year & I talked with Ardo, Madela, Spectra & Lansinoh. I was pregnant with my first child & was clueless on pumps, but I knew I needed one. Talking to each manufacturer was helpful but overwhelming because I didn’t want to make the wrong decision on something that was a way for a source of food for my future baby!
If I had to pick solely on talking with each manufacturer at the Baby Show, I would have picked Ardo. Now, based on the product and customer service, I’d say Ardo, again, wins hands down. Now, before this show, I had never heard of them, so I needed to do research to make sure they were as good as they say they are. Doing my research was mind boggling due to everything else you’re researching (strollers, car seats, etc) & wanting the perfect stuff for your baby.
I went to all the manufacturing sites; watched quite a few youtube videos, in addition to asking everyone I knew what pump to get. All my nurses said Medela & I asked them why…they said because everyone else had it. I knew I didn’t want the Medela because I wanted a “closed” system. I was really worried about getting mold in the tubes. The more I researched, the more bad reviews I saw for Spectra. So I took that out of the running as well, which left Ardo & Lansinoh.
I ended up selecting the Lansinoh since it was Bluetooth capable, a closed system & had a timer with battery capability. The pump was… nice. I used it for about 2 months but hated it. I liked it because it had an app on your phone (which comes to find out, anyone can use the Lansinoh App) and it also had a timer, which I actually really liked. With that being said, I kept thinking about the Ardo Calypso Pump & regretting that I hadn’t gotten it. So, I ended up ordering one off Ebay for a backup/spare pump to leave in the car & take when I traveled (since it passes all laws for traveling on planes). I know, I was kind of grossed out to buy off ebay but I didn’t have the money to buy a second backup one. YES, I sterilized it!
After the first pumping session with the Ardo Calypso pump, I never touched my Lansinoh pump EVER again! This pump is more than AMAZING, it’s really life changing!! Here are the amazing features of it that are so useful:
1. SUCKING Mechanism – It’s SO natural, and by that I mean, it has the same mechanism of a baby sucking on you. Every other pump doesn’t have the natural sucking, so it wouldn’t get the milk out like my baby would. Due to that, I was able to pump so much more milk in the same amount of time. It has 64 “sucking” settings so you can find which one is most natural for you.
Also, on a side note, you really need the correct size nipple shield so your nipples don’t hurt during pumping. Ardo offers FIVE sizes where every other company only offers about two sizes. This is important if you don’t want to mess up your nipples.
2. SOUND – Did you hear that? Me either! It’s that quiet! The highest setting has a small hum to it but I used my settings as half way. My best friends had her baby one month before I did. She got the medela. Well 6 months later, we do girls weekend & pumped together. Hers was SO loud & it gets super annoying – kinda like hearing your alarm clock go off.
3. ELECTRIC & BATTERY – I rarely use the battery feature, but WAY nice to have when you need it! Your electric ever go out? How are you going to pump? Want to pump but not in a gross bathroom & not near your car? The batteries last for 5-6 hours, which an average pumping session is 20 minutes, so that’s about 12 pumping sessions before you need to change or recharge your batteries. Don’t forget, this pump also works with electric as well as an A.C. converter for your car.
I will tell you over & over & over again how amazing this pump is & you will not regret it!
On a side note: go through Mommyxpress.com to order your pump – they go through your insurance company for you to save you the stress.
EDIT: I’ve had this pump for 8 months and I am still obsessed with it!

This is the fourth pump I have tried in addition to two different Medela pumps and the Elvie.
Pros:
The suction is very gentle
Output is comparable if not better to other pumps
The comfort flanges are a nice inclusion
Contras:
The tubing is very flexible making it a little bit more difficult to hold both pumps with one hand without kinking and therefore cutting off suction
The two tubes get tangled easily. I wish there was a Y connector instead for double pumping
You have to manually switch from stimulation to expression mode. While control is nice, I prefer that it happen automatically
The display is a nice way to view then settings but I wish it had a timer also
Overall, this is a very nice pump! The cons are more so personal preferences. It functions very well.

I really really like this pump! The suction feels very different than other pumps I’ve used and I find that it’s very efficient at removing milk even thought the suction doesn’t feel as strong – I have to pump half as long with the Ardo than I do with my spectra s2. I also like the option of using it battery powered, if you are traveling and forget the cord you don’t have to scramble to find a replacement. I also like that you can control the suction and cycles independently to find the right combination for you. The only things I don’t like is there’s no let down mode or way to program it. Also if you need a flange size other than the 26 or 31 the flange inserts aren’t great because it’s hard to get a deal good enough so you don’t lose suction, I prefer to use spectra or maymom parts with this pump. It’s very easy to do so though. Also if you have pets for some reason their tubing sticky and is like a hair magnet. I replaced the tubing with other tubing immediately.

In short: this is a super quiet pump that has great milk extraction and it’s pretty much painless!
Pros:
-This pump has excellent suction without being painful. As one of their representatives pointed out to me, this pump uses pistons rather than a diaphragm which makes it more effective to pull out milk at a lower suction power. I definitely agree as I never went more than halfway on the vacuum power and I never felt any soreness like I have with other pumps.
-Quiet! It’s obviously not silent, but it is very quiet.
-Bottle holder—as someone who has had many a bottle of milk tip over while I’m trying to get my life together post pumping, I appreciate the detachable bottle holders.
-Battery option— I haven’t tried this yet but I like that it’s an option to be portable. Would be even better if it was rechargeable!
-Shabbat mode—this isn’t applicable to me, but I think it’s really inclusive to have this option for women to pump while being able to observe Shabbat.
Contras:
—Flanges come in size 26 or size 28 which can be used with silicone inserts for size 26. I found this interesting since most other pumps come with size 24. So just something to note you might need to buy different sizes.
—The tops of the flanges where the tubes connect can be a little sharp, so just watch out while washing.
—The display doesn’t indicate time, so you’ll need to track that yourself. Also, there’s no automatic switch from let down to expression mode, you just adjust the levels yourself. Not a deal breaker by any means, but might not be intuitive for all.
Overall, it’s a big win for what it’s made for—milk extraction! Are there little things they could do to make it ideal, sure? But those things are minor when it comes to what really matters—quick, painless, quiet pumping!

I have used a total of 13 breast pumps and I can confidently say this is my favorite! (My second and third favorites are hospital-grade pumps that cost $2000+.)
What I like most about this pump is what it is NOT… It is not finicky, it is not difficult to use, it does not do anything except for what you expect it to. In my experience most breast pumps can be a little temperamental and there’s always something that goes wrong… (The tubing comes disconnected, the flanges need adjusting, output is low for no apparent reason, you can’t move for fear that something will fall out of place, etc…) Not the Calypso! It’s very easy to assemble and use, and I haven’t had a need for troubleshooting. Just read the instructions (which are easy to read and understand), follow them, and it should be smooth sailing.
A few traits I like about this pump are that it can be used as either a single or double pump, it’s a closed system, my output is excellent, it’s comfortable, and it’s very quiet! Other highlights include a manual pump that comes with the kit, a silicone flange for added comfort, and independent controls for speed and suction. (Even some hospital-grade pumps don’t allow for independent control of speed and suction.) This kit is exhaustive and includes everything you could need, and every piece is of high quality. I do not worry about any of my parts breaking or malfunctioning. The bag is stylish, the bottles have a flared base which provides more stability, the cooler bag and ice packs are space efficient and effective at keeping milk cooled. The bag and additional storage pouches are thoughtfully designed to keep everything efficiently organized and easy to access for use.
The bottom line: This is by far my favorite pump of the 13 I have used! It is now my default go-to pump and I will recommend it to anyone who asks. It is easy to use, effective, comfortable, quiet, and I have yet to identify any flaws. You won’t be disappointed if you get the Ardo Calypso!

For all you pumpers, this Ardo is one to try! As a pumping mom, I’ve tried quite a few of the other big name pumps and this one really stands out for quality and so much value! They say this pump is different because it uses a piston pump mechanism and from the receiving end I agree there really is a difference! I am so impressed at how comfortable and unique the suction feels with the Calypso! It takes me less time to get more milk then compared with my other pumps! Any pumping parent can attest to how important getting more milk in less time is! Time is everything when you have a baby!
The pump itself is super small and lightweight. It is made to be plugged in but does have option of using batteries if needed which is helpful for the car or on the go in case there isn’t a plug nearby. It is so much quieter then other pumps i’ve used! Even on the highest setting, I feel like my milk dripping out is sometimes louder then the pump sound! It is very easy to use with two buttons up/down to adjust Suction and Cycles. There isn’t a “starting” or “letdown” mode button but it is easy enough to just adjust the speed and cycles which actually makes it easier since everyones body responds differently to the pump and may choose different settings to dial it in perfect for their letdown. I just start with a high cycle and lower vacuum then when my milk starts letting down I decrease the cycles and increase he vacuum. I think the level of comfort this pump provides through the easy controls also helps me make more milk as it’s not painful at all so my body can relax.
The mechanism of the pump suction really does feel different then other pumps as I don’t feel any nipple pinching or pain ever with this pump. I have smaller nipples and needed to use the flange inserts to make it smaller at 22mm. I do wish that the insert clipped in or was a whole flange itself instead of just resting in the larger flange because sometimes it falls out when putting the parts on or off. I wear a hands free pumping bra so it is not an issue while pumping now that I know. If you do have smaller nipples I would measure first to make sure the flange is a good fit. If you feel like you have average or larger nipples you’re in luck because this pump comes with a large variety of size flanges and even a silicone insert too! If you have no clue your nipple size, Ardo actually includes a little measuring sheet to help!
They really include a lot for the value with this pump. Aside from the pump you get, 3 flange sizes, silicone Optiflo massage flange inserts, extra bottles and pump parts, sizing guide, cleaning brush, and bottle holder. I would hands down say this is now my “go-to” pump especially since I am pumping for work now too! I love that it is so quiet when I am pumping at work or at home during the night. The Ardo really has been great for at home or on the go! Pumping is a major part of our lives so anything that makes it easier to fit into an on-the-go lifestyle is key
I also love that this is a closed system so that no milk can get caught up in the pump and be possible source of bacteria or mold growth. It is also important to me that the bottles are BPA free and super easy to clean and assemble! It is a standard neck bottle size so very convenient for compatibility with other standard neck baby feeding bottles too. Hands down I would recommend the Ardo Calypso as a pumping parent!
