FAQs

Do I need a special type of bra?

No. The Ardo Melia breast pump fit in most bras. Choose a bra made of a stretchy material. The collection cups will usually fit into a breastfeeding bra better than into a normal bra. However, some women who are breastfeeding find that a bustier is better than a bra.

Make sure that the Ardo Melia doesn’t sit too tightly in your bra, as this could impair pumping. If the pump is pressing too hard against your breast, loosen your bra straps. And if necessary, use the strap extensions provided to adjust your nursing bra.

Can I store breast milk in the milk collection cups?

Please do not store pumped breast milk directly in the collection cups. Instead, pour the milk through the opening in the collection cup into a suitable breast milk bottle or breast milk storage bag.

  1. AlmightyCake

This is a medical grade wearable pumps which mean they have strong suction. It also come with massage and stimulation modes. The thing that made it the most standout is that the cups are dishwasher safe. No more washing it by hand. Love then pumps.

  2. Supermom55

These breast pumps are convenient and easy to use. They are comfortable to wear and the suction is strong. They have massage mode, which is a nice feature. They are easy to clean. I’m very impressed by the quality of these.

  3. Kim

So easy to wear and very comfortable. The suction is much higher quality than I was expecting. The pumps fit nicely inside my bra, I wasn’t sure at first, but it fit very nicely. The instructions are easy to follow and the pump is easy to clean.

  4. Ayhesa

I’ve got the Ardo Alyssa and I loved it but it’s too loud specially at night when my husband and kids are sleeping plus it has cords so this is definitely an upgrade. These are comparable to my MomCozy pumps. These are small and would fit any kind of bra. They are more discreet looking and doesn’t make so much noise which is a plus. Suction is great like my Ardo Alyssa. Gives me really good output. Comes with -9mm flange which is my size. Easy to clean and sterilize. Love it.

  5. laninatriste

easy to use and clean and its comfortable. it has great suction and I like how well the modes and suction levels fit my needs. it’s easy to pour and i have no issues with leaks. battery life is good and it isn’t noisy.

  6. Insomnomnomnia

This pump is easy to clean and easy to use. There aren’t too many parts to wash which is a huge plus for me. It doesn’t quite empty me like a wall pump but does a pretty good job for a hands free. It feels high quality like it will last a while. I hadn’t heard of this brand before but I think it’s a good one so far!

  7. JenRo

I had to rent a hospital grade breast pump because the one I got through my insurance was not strong enough. I wanted something hands free and this pump is it. It will pump for 20 minutes and then it automatically turns off, so I would power it on again and pump an additional 10 minutes. It has strong suction and comfortable to use. Highly recommended!!!

  8. Lucy C

As a busy mama who exclusively breastfeeds, I’m constantly looking for ways to make my journey smooth and convenient. This pump is so easy to assemble, and makes it perfect to take anywhere on the go. I can multitask while pumping, which makes it so great when trying to manage other things. The milk collector cups are so discreet and have such a comfortable fit, that you almost forget you are wearing them. Bra strap adjusters are also included which really make for a more comfortable and custom fit. It has four modes, including a message mode which I find really helps stimulate my letdown. Once my session is over, I was amazed at how much milk was collected! The design makes for easy pouring into a storage bottle or bag.
My favorite part is how absolutely hands free it truly is! The battery power truly lasts and can be charged. Cleaning is such a breeze and can be washed by hand or even in the dishwasher. The suction power is always so comfortable even at its highest level. Ardo has always been such a game changer when it comes to my pumping/ breastfeeding journey. This pump and the products they create, make you feel truly heard and understood! I definitely recommend Ardo’s Melia without a doubt!

  9. LessThanAlpha

As a working mom whose day is spent driving between appointments, having a hands free pump I can use in the car is a must. These comfortably fit in my nursing bras, and stay in place well during a pumping session. They hold a charge well, and I’m able to use for several sessions before needing to charge again. I get slightly lower output than my hospital grade wall plug in pump, but these are doing a great job compared to other wearables I’ve used in the past.

  10. Angel

I have many different pumps, even a few hands free options, and this one is great!
I work at a public-facing desk job, and it is a little on the louder side, so I wouldn’t used it while I’m working. However it is a great option for a hands-free driving or home session where you can’t be hooked up with tubes to a machine.

  11. KJ

I use this as my main pump. I have another wearable that I like, but I seem to reach for this one more. Seems to do a good job emptying me. Not super quiet, but it’s not as loud as my other wearable, either. Super easy to use and clean.

  12. murielle raveloson

I recently purchased the Ardo Melia wearable breast pump after my old wearable just wasn’t cutting it anymore. The suction on my previous pump was weak, and I felt like I wasn’t getting the output I needed. The Ardo Melia has been a game-changer!
I’m really happy with the suction and how much milk I’m able to pump. I get about 4 ounces from each side, which is way more than I used to with my old pump. It really feels like it’s designed to maximize milk flow and it’s also really comfortable.
I also love how easy it is to use and clean. After I pump, I just place the pump parts in the dishwasher so I don’t have to hand wash them. If you’re looking for a wearable pump that has a lot of suction, I definitely recommend giving the Ardo Melia a try!

  13. Julia

    Amazing!

  14. Lori

I am an exclusive pumper and when I was newly postpartum purchased a different set of handless pumps (I won’t name names but they are the “MC’s”). I didn’t use those as much as I intended because I didn’t see much luck with them… they were too bulky, not the right kind of suction, not comfortable no matter what flanges I used etc. I had seen the Ardo’s advertised and thought what the hell let me just try a new pair and WOW am I glad I did. I love the settings, they are much thinner cups and fit better inside my bra, and they don’t hurt at all, even with the higher suction! I tried these vs my plug in Spectra for my normal day time pumps and honestly feel like I was getting just as much from these. All I can say is if you’re on the fence and/or comparing with other brands… go Ardo. You won’t be disappointed!

  15. Lauren B

I ordered these pumps to have something to use on the go and they did not disappoint!! They are easy to charge, easy to wear discreetly and are comfortable. I have a large chest (36DD) so wearing a pump is not usually something I can do but this was easy! I’ll be recommending to every mother I know

I’m new to the wearable world as with my first child I was solely a Motif Luna wall pump user. My second child was born in September this year and I knew that I wanted to give the wearables a try since I would need to be more mobile now with both an infant and a toddler. The Ardo name is very reputable and I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about the Calypso and Alyssa, so when they released the Melia I knew I had to give it a try. The programmable options and the far fewer parts to wash (that can also be conveniently placed in dishwasher) were all very attractive. I predominantly breastfeed now and am starting to incorporate more pumping as I prepare to return to work. Once this happens, I expect to pump 30-40% of the time. Given this breakdown, wearables were more of a realistic option given the flexibility/mobility they provide and worth trying despite the well known issues and concerns with decreasing milk supply that I know others have experienced with these types of pumps.

I’ve used the Melia for roughly two weeks and have consistently netted a respectable 6 oz + per session. I still have to compare this to what I get out of my sessions with the Motif Luna, but I’m liking the results and it equates to two feedings for my little one at this stage of his growth.

I’ll aim to update this post as I continue to figure out the best settings and supports (bra, consulting lactation experts, etc.), but for now I foresee the Melia being a mainstay tool in my toolbox as I seek to maintain my supply and strike the right balance between breastfeeding and pumping throughout the day.

I am ever grateful for the increasing innovation in this space and the consideration reflected in pumps like the Melia that help to make the breastfeeding journey a bit easier/less daunting, and more supportive.
